Chocolate Layer Cake
Recipe
This needs more chocolate flavor next time -- consider adding melted chocolate to batter and increasing flour by 20g
Ingredients
- 220g all-purpose flour
- 200g granulated sugar
- 150g brown sugar
- 65g unsweetened natural cocoa powder (not dutch processed)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk1
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil (or canola oil, or melted coconut oil)
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature2
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) freshly brewed strong hot coffee3
Instructions
- Preheat to 350
- Butter, flour, and line cake pans with parchment
- Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt in med bowl
- Mix buttermilk, oil, eggs, vanilla on high-ish speed
- Slowly add dry ingredients on low.
- Add Coffee
- Bake 25+ minutes
