Creation

Black Holes can be created by stars 100 times the density of our sun. These stars explode in Hypernova, leaving a black hole behind

  • Fusion stops in a dying star, causing gravity to crush it's core to collapse
  • A small black hole is formed, which begins to feed on the outer layers of the shell
  • Within 1 second of forming, it expels more energy than our sun will produce in its lifetime, creating a Gamma-ray burst

Characteristics

  • At the center of a black hole is a singularity, a point of infinite gravity

Gamma-ray bursts

  • Caused by newly formed black hole consuming matter of the surrounding star
  • Observable feature of a black hole, we see them everywhere

Super massive black holes

  • One rumored to be at the center of our galaxy, 4 million times the density of our sun
  • One in Andromeda is 140m * density our sun
  • M87 = 20 billion density of our sun
  • Quasars are explosions from SMBHs
